The Humming Sun Doula-Pregnancy, Birth, Postpartum & Beyond

It was a joy and a privilege to share my pregnancy journey with Yanna and I cannot imagine going through the pregnancy, birth, and post-partum experiences without her support. Having someone in this role was essential for me to face my greatest fears of pregnancy and childbirth. My partner and I reached out to several doulas, and as soon as we met Yanna we instantly clicked with her vibrant energy of kindness, warmth, and compassion. During the pregnancy she made sure that my partner and I were well informed and felt empowered in our birth choices. She supported us through a long labour and made me feel that I was capable of anything and everything during and immediately following the birth of our daughter. Post-partum she answered all of our questions and provided delicious, nourishing food when all we could do was focus on our little one. I would encourage anyone that is curious or interested in having the support of a doula to connect with Yanna so that her presence can be a highlight of your journey too!

When I fell pregnant I had no idea where to begin. I regularly visited a family doctor advised from my mother. Who knows better than your mother right? So I followed her guidance. Throughout pregnancy I heard an inner voice tell me I needed a different plan of action. By 35 weeks I found The Humming Sun doula, Yanna. We met at a botanical garden cafe and conversed about a spiritual birth plan and other alternative decisions. After 3.5 hours of non stop chit chat and two rounds of tea I knew I had l found the perfect doula. Compassionate, gentle, positive, and powerful are just a few to describe the lovely doula, Yanna. I walked away knowing that I was in great guiding hands, and that I had officially found the last member of our birth team.Being 35 weeks, my inner voice told me baby was coming early, without further to do Yanna prepared a special doula package to work with our little timeframe. And just like that at 37 weeks baby began making his journey into the world. I birthed in a hospital however as a team we pursued to have a natural, no intervention, non medical birth. Yanna was our brick wall between the hospital system and my partner and I. She was so incredibly resilient, pushing away the needy checklist from misunderstanding midwives and allowing my birth space to be as we intended. A peaceful, meditative space for our boy to take his first breath. My darling child is now 11 weeks as of today, and I am still in awe of how beautiful his birth was. I am forever grateful for Yanna and couldn’t have met a more courageous and inspiring woman. She no longer serves us as a doula, but now stands with us as a wonderful friend! There will forever and always be a warm and cosy space for her in our hearts.

I found Yanna after searching through a few different doulas and we met and my wife and I hit it off straight away. We opted for pre and post natal support from Yanna, and we are so glad we had this. My partner and myself are forever grateful for Yannas insight, support, understanding and help with our little lady! Yanna came into our lives while I was pregnant with my third baby. I had been attending a prenatal yoga series when I learn about the importance of proper postnatal care and that doulas could help families at this time. Even though I had been through the groggy newborn days twice before, I had thought that doulas were only for birth, and that having a newborn was something that you simply prepared for as best you could and then white-knuckled through (much like birth!)I reached out to Yanna and we met at a cafe to discuss what she could offer our family. We agreed on postnatal care with meals and snacks, and worked out a totally personalised program of visits to suit our family’s needs. Throughout the whole process Yanna was warm, accommodating and generous with her wealth of knowledge about birth and babies.Having her come into our home after the birth of my son simply increased the joy in our lives. It gave me and my partner a chance to relax and enjoy those newborn snuggles, it gave our three-year old daughter a sense of importance as she helped Yanna prepare healthy meals and snacks and it gave me a much-needed confidence boost as she reassured my worries and reminded me about the importance of self-care.Yanna’s wonderful energy, grace and humour (not to mention delicious food!) turned what could have been a lonely and stressful time into something much more precious and joyful. I would recommend her services to anyone bringing a new soul into their lives <3
